New book offer for wedding clients

If you’re booking me for the whole day (Venice package), you will receive a nice little extra. It’s a brand new soft cover book which you can use as a guest book on your wedding day rather like a signature book. In other words, your guests can leave well wishing messages inside to provide you with a brilliant keepsake after your wedding is over. It’s a really lovely book with textured white paper pages and will include photos of you and your partner taken at the engagement shoot. The book has heavier art paper pages which have the look of

What’s so good about black and white photos?

Ok, yes this is one of my popular themes but that’s because I really believe in the power of black and white photographs. They just convey more emotion! Take out the colour and there are no distractions. You just look straight at the subjects’ faces and see what they’re feeling. Maybe you also empathise a bit and feel their emotions too.      Black and white photos also convey more character somehow. Think of all those powerful portraits and film stills from the 1950’s-James Dean, Marilyn Munroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Cary Grant, Audrey Hepburn-they all convey such character and are still

Andy and Amy’s wedding

Well it was nice to have a local wedding the day I photographed Amy and Andy’s wedding. I was at the Victoria Park methodist church when ex Bournemouth School boy Andy and his old school mates turned up at the church on a really warm day. I decided to use my ladders to get a slightly higher shot of the wedding ceremony. Then I spotted this unusual photo opportunity. After the ceremony, we headed to Merley House, near Wimborne, a really nice Georgian Manor House and a venue I’d never been to before. At the back of the venue are

Subtle wedding photos

Sometimes it’s the subtle detail photos which can really add interest to a set of wedding photos especially when presented in a wedding album. I took these three photos at a recent wedding and I like all of them for different reasons: the bridesmaid glass with the bridesmaid blurred in the foreground and the wedding guest shot with colourful foreground interest are particular favourites of mine. Remember, a professional photographer will spot opportunities like these and use techniques which add artistic effect.

Wedding at the Christchurch Harbour Hotel

Yesterday’s wedding at the Christchurch Harbour hotel was one of the most enjoyable weddings I’ve worked at for ages. The setting at the hotel is amazing as it sits right next to the water’s edge but also the weather was fantastic and the couple managed to plan a very relaxed day for all their guests. A whole group photo was made more fun by the releasing of a whole load of balloons. The venue has a little jetty which is perfect for wedding photos. After an ‘afternoon tea’ wedding breakfast and some excellent singing from Jason Jay Taylor, Clare and

Wedding Fun by the water

Karen and Jools’ wedding last week was great fun.  They decided to incorporate lots of different water themed elements into their wedding and they were lucky as the weather was ideal, if anything slightly too warm.  The couple got married at the Christchurch Harbour Hotel which is a beautiful hotel and directly overlooks Christchurch harbour. It even has a little jetty from which boats can be launched etc. Then a small rowing boat arrived and the couple slightly nervous, carefully boarded the boat desperate not to fall in the water! However their nerves soon subsided and it wasn’t long before

Photo of the week

I just found this photo whilst looking through some shots of a venue where I’ve been asked to photograph a wedding later this year. I just remember that on our way to the venue, the couple and I stopped off at the New Forest to capture some natural shots. What caught my eye about this photo was two things. First the lovely setting but also the great expressions on the couple’s faces.

Miramar Winter Wedding

My last wedding took me to one of Bournemouth’s most popular wedding venues, The Miramar. However, it was early January and very wet so outdoor photos were not on the agenda. The couple didn’t want a load of portraits of themselves preferring a more laid back coverage. The day started with some shots of the bride and bridesmaids at the hotel. Then I headed off to the Church where the rain continued. The bride, Carmen, had to move fast to get into the church quickly but she still managed a smile. The service took place at Corpus Christi Church in Boscombe,

A lovely wedding

I photographed a super wedding at the Chine Hotel last Sunday-the weather was great which helped as did the setting for the ceremony-a old church in Wimborne St Giles with a beautiful green outside for photos. Ozlem and Chris has chosen great venues for their wedding and both were excellent subjects on the day. The bridesmaids were stunning all dressed in red polka dot. The heat was rising so we headed down to the beach at Boscombe, just a short walk through the hotel’s gardens but first it was time for an ice cream! The beach wasn’t too busy and
